A superb example of English watchmaking, the condition of the movement is excellent, with going train and the repeating mechanism functioning perfectly. The beautiful Silver Gilt case is in original condition with a little rubbing to the original gilding, but only very slightly and not to detract from the beauty of this magnificent antique piece. |

The fine piercing and engraving is truly quite stunning, beautifully executed by a craftsman of the highest skill. The purpose of the profuse piercing around the bezel and inner case, was to allow the beautiful sound of the internal bell to emanate, chiming the hours and quarters. The repeating function is activated by the plunging pendant. The action of depressing the pendant actually winds a secondary movement within the watches main mechanism this secondary movement powers the striking hammers.
