A most unusual and very rare Gentleman's high grade, elegant Vintage Dress Watch.C.1930.

The slim classic case heavily Rhodium Plated signed inside the case back: "Rolex Watch Co Ltd Geneva SNOWITE Guaranteed to stay pure white for 20 years" and numbered 119971.

The original off white dial signed "Rolex" with subsidiary seconds and original blued steel Diamond Lance hands.

By convention, Ruby jewels were and indeed still are, nearly always used in watch jewelling. However, in this very rare example, beautiful blue Sapphire jewels have been used, only the pallet pivot and the pallet jewels have the usual Rubies fitted.

There appears to be no practical reason for the use of Sapphire rather than Ruby, as these are are both exactly the same crystal material, Corundum. However, the unusual use of such Sapphire jewelling make this elegant Rolex very rare indeed.
