A fine and rare Gentleman's vintage Rolex Oyster "Viceroy"waterproof Wristwatch C.1948, of a most striking and truly elegant Art-Deco appearance, the Oyster case with screw-on back & screw-down Oyster crown.

The tonneau shaped case in superb condition, signed "Oyster Watch Co. SAR", with Rolex Crown logo.

The beautiful high grade Lever movement also in superb condition, signed "Rolex Ultra Prima Swiss Made Timed 6 Positions for all climates. 15 Jewels".

The Dial with subsidiary seconds, totally original with some distress, however this does not detract from its most attractive and classic Art-Deco minimalist style with outer seconds track and inner minutes track with five minute and hour baton indexes.

The Blued Steel Baton hands are too completely original, very Deco and most attractive.

 

 

 

This wonderful classic vintage Rolex is an absolute gem of a vintage timepiece, and comes in the original Royal Jewellers case (Collingwood of Mayfair) and is complete with the original Rolex instructions C.1948.
The "Viceroy" case is in excellent condition with the Oyster screw-on case back retaining its crisp milling.
The Oyster screw-down winding button clearly showing the original rare "Oyster Patent" wording which preceded the later Rolex Crown logo. The crisp condition of the milled edge case back may also be seen in this illustration.

 

Complete with this handsome Wristwatch, the extremely rare original Rolex instructions.
