A magnificent Victorian, high grade Gentleman's English Lever 18ct. Gold, Hunting Cased Pocket Watch, with centre seconds chronograph. C.1898, made by Thomas Russell & Son. The classic, gilt three quarter plate movement, quite pristine, with beautifully engraved balance bridge and screwed Chatons, pin setting to the hands, signed; "Makers to the Queen Liverpool Thomas Russell & Son" No. 97734. "Tempus Fugit ", with stop button to the case band at five thirty. The classic white enamel dial in perfect condition, with sunken centre, Roman numerals and 1/5 second increments to the chapter ring. Signed: Thomas Russell & Son 97734. Gold spade hour and minute hands with fine Blued Steel, sweep centre seconds chronograph hand. The substantial and robust Full Hunting Case, in excellent condition, numbered 97734, with Chester Hallmarks for the year 1898. |

Typical of the extremely high standards of the Victorian period, the weight, quality and substantial "Victorian" feel of the classic, full hunting 18ct. Gold case, is most impressive and its condition quite superb. The steel screws seen here retaining their beautiful original "gun metal" blueing.
