An Omega, British Military ( RAF) issue high grade anti-magnetic Chronometer quality wristwatch in steel with centre sweep seconds.C.1953. Omega Reference # CK2777.

These military issue timepieces were special government contract orders, constructed to the very highest quality, unavailable to the general public, with features and specifications not normally found on civilian timepieces. Such government contracts were won by the most famous and prestigious watch manufacturers of the day, such as Omega, Rolex, Jaeger LeCoultre and IWC.

What is particularly interesting with this model is that Omega's records show that it was a "one off" order by the British government, placed for one year only in 1953.

The original matt black dial in superb condition, signed "Omega" with Omega logo and with the British Government "Broad Arrow" Military issue symbol. Also printed on the dial is the British military "T" in a circle, indicating the use of Tritium. Military specification high visibility white solid numerals and second track.

Original luminous steel spade hands and original white centre second seconds hand.

A remarkable and most important feature of this beautiful timepiece is the high grade calibre 30-SC T3- 283 movement.

This magnificent vintage Omega movement was produced to the very highest Chronometer grade standard for military use, demanding a tolerance of only +/- ten seconds per day.

The lug bars are of solid steel as opposed to the hollow sprung bar type used on civilian wristwatches. A British military issue feature to ensure that the watch would not come adrift, even under the most rigorous of combat conditions.

The watch case built to British military specifications is of a highly robust waterproof construction, with a screwed-down case back and glands sealing the winding stem.

Every aspect of the military specification was to ensure the integrity, accuracy and effectiveness of the timepiece under the most arduous of flight combat conditions.

The dial on this magnificent timepiece is made of an Iron alloy a full 1mm thick, forming one element of an antimagnetic cell. An internal case band and protective rear cap of Iron alloy completing the cell.

This finely engineered internal cell protected the high grade chronometer movement from the effects of magnetic fields of up to 900 Oersted, compared to the mere 60 Oersted for that of civilian wristwatches.

The watch on a "G-10" type NATO gray military watch band.

The waterproof screw-on case back with British broad arrow and Military ordinance numbering:-

6645-101000 -- NATO code.

6B/542 -- Aircrew Issue.

10396/53 -- Stores number and year of ordering.

This magnificent and most handsome vintage Military Timepiece has been back to the Omega workshop for a complete service and overhaul and is sold with an Omega two year Guarantee.
