A rare and fine vintage Movado "Calendermeto" Gentleman's pocket watch.C.1948, in exceptionally superb and original condition.
The gilt metal case, leather-covered, with folding travelling strut on the back, and ring suspension loop for a chain.
The beautiful original silvered dial in perfect condition, with applied gold Arabic numerals, and triangle markers, outer minute track, graduation for the days of the month, apertures for the days of the week, the months and the moon phases. Fine original “Alpha” hands.
The high grade Cal. 155 movement in superb condition, with rhodium-plated, 15 jewels, lever escapement, monometallic balance, self-compensating Breguet balance-spring. Dial, case and movement signed.
A unique feature of the "Ermeto" pocket watch case was that as the case is opened and closed an internal rachet device cleverly winds the watch, as an original Movado advert below indicates.
The condition of this handsome vintage timepiece is quite outstanding and completely original.
The Movado "Ermeto" models were made in three sizes, this beautiful example is the largest size, intended for use by Gentleman to be carried, attached to an Albert chain, as a conventional a pocket watch.
The two smaller sizes were made for women and usually referred to as "Purse" watches.
