The cast panels reading: "The Motor & Cycling Club Founded 1901" This early club appears to have disappeared into the mists of time. With the advent of the Motor Cycle and Motor Car, it may have been amongst the first of many such early enthusiastic motoring clubs and associations to blossom in the early part of the turn of the last century. Motoring clubs of this early period would only have had membership drawn from the aristocracy, landed gentry or from the world of high finance and commerce. Hence the club commissioning such magnificent cufflinks of the highest quality, from the likes of Mappin & Webb, Jewelers and Goldsmiths holding the Royal Warrant. |
