A Second World War period US Military issue Type 23 "Navigational Stopwatch" in Chrome Nickel case C.1940, by Hamilton Watch Co.Lancaster Pennsylvania USA The black dial in perfect condition, with subsidiary seconds & Minute recorder, signed "Hamilton". The case back which has some abrasion due to service use, with US ordinance marks: FSSC No.88-W590 Mfr's.Part No. 37297 Bu.Aero U.S.Navy Contract # Nos.88266 Serial No.356042. The high grade movement in superb condition, with micrometer adjustment, 19 Jewels, adjusted to temperature & 3 positions. This magnificent watch comes with its original US Military issue box with all the numbering matching the watch. |

The screw-on case back has some service abrasion with nickel showing through the chrome. The majority of these magnificent chronographs appear to have been used by the US airmen out on a desk area, rather than contained within a protective outer case, as most have similar distress to the case back. |

Used for navigation, these handsome chronographs made to the highest grade, in effect were tested to Chronometer standard by the US military.
