A magnificent extra large Chronograph of the very highest Swiss grade, operated by one button at the twelve position. The fully Jewelled Leaver movement C.1900, with bi-metal ic balance and Swan Neck Micrometer regulator, signed "Girard - Perregaux La Chaux-de-Fonds". The beautiful white enamel dial with subsidiary seconds dial and blued steel hands, set by depressing the pin set at the four position.The outer seconds track marked with one fifth of a second divisions. The Blued steel "Moon" hands complimenting the dial. The modern case made of Steel, (50mm in diameter), with the case back of Sapphire Crystal Glass to facilitate a most wonderful view of this truly superb and most impressive early Girard - Perregaux movement. The use of extremely high grade pocket watch movements to construct large wristwatches goes back to the First World War where Aviators needed large easy to read Chronographs. The extreme accuracy, reliability, ease of observation and winding with gloved hands using the large button made such watches an important tool with many first and second world war Aviators. This rare, beautifully made timepiece is an excellent example of this tradition carried on today,combining and blending the old with the new.
