A most attractive, classic Antique Victorian Gold inlayed Tortoiseshell Cross, C.1870.

This beautiful and intricate Victorian work, using geometric patterns of Gold, finely inlayed into the Tortoiseshell was produced not only in a variety of deferent Jewellery items but in various precious objects such as snuff boxes, card cases, combs and many other small and fine items.

The Tortoiseshell material used in these items from the Victorian period, was never from the land Tortoise, but from the sea- going Turtles found in the warm waters of the Pacific Ocean and West Indies.

The condition of this wonderful antique piece is perfect and original with no damage whatsoever, a fabulous and classic example of its type.The size is :47mm x 71mm x 5mm.
