A Rare, late Victorian/Edwardian, Gentleman's "Buttonhole " Swiss made watch, in a Gunmetal, Blued Steel case with Gunmetal Blued Steel hands C.1900.

The white enamel dial with gilt dots and Arabic numerals with red twelve.

The time is set in the early way,by depressing the pinset button on the case band and rotating the winding crown.

This particular watch is in almost unused condition, with the Gunmetal in perfect condition and a most beautiful, deep blue almost iridescent sheen.

A side view of the watch showing the central case extension, with the dial housed atop a stalk, allowing this extended housing to be placed through a jacket lapel buttonhole, to reveal just the dial and conceal the movement housing behind the lapel, thus giving the illusion of a miniature watch.

With the dial (15mm diameter),protruding through the buttonhole and the main movement housing unseen,(29mm) an effective illusion of miniaturization, this unusual watch appears to be incredibly small, an amusing late Victorian/ Edwardian novelty .

I feel that must point out once again that this rare and unusual antique timepiece, is in an almost unused state, the Gunmetal in perfect condition with a most beautiful, deep blue almost iridescent sheen.

Stock # 1831 Diameter: 29mm Price £1,650.00
